1. What is personality?

Answer:

The word personality is derived from the Latin word "Persona", which means "mask". It is the set of physical, mental, social, emotional qualities, interests, behavior and abilities of a person, through which the person interacts with his environment.


2. According to Carl Jung, how many personality types are there?

Answer:

According to Jung, personality is divided into three types:

1. Introvert:

  • Shy and less talkative.
  • Avoids mixing in society.
  • Likes to be alone.

2. Extrovert:

  • Outspoken and confident.
  • Participant in social events.
  • Stay energetic and motivated.

3. Ambivert:

  • Neither completely introvert, nor completely extrovert.
  • Behaves according to the circumstances.


3. What are the Big Five Theories of personality?

Answer:

Personality is assessed based on five major traits:

  • Clarity-related traits: creativity, imagination, curiosity.
  • Conscientiousness Traits: Self-discipline, hard work, responsibility.
  • Extroversion traits: Energy, sociability, talkative nature.
  • Agreeableness traits: cooperativeness, generosity, empathy.
  • Neurotic symptoms: anger, anxiety, depression.


4. What is motivation and what are its types?

Answer:

Motivation means to motivate a person to achieve a goal. It is of two types:

1. Intrinsic Motivation:

  • When a person works out of his own interest.
  • Example: Studying without any pressure.

2. Extrinsic Motivation:

  • When a person acts for external gain.
  • Example: Getting gifts for getting good marks.


5. What is meant by Exercise Adherence?

Answer:

When a person exercises regularly without any external motivation and makes it a part of his daily routine, it is called exercise adherence.

Benefits of exercise:

  • The body becomes flexible and well-shaped.
  • Increase in immunity.
  • Reduction in anxiety and stress.
  • Improved self-esteem and health.


6. What is Aggression?

Answer:

Aggression is physical or verbal behavior intended to harm someone mentally or physically.

Types of aggression:

1. Hostile Aggression:

  • Deliberately trying to hurt someone.
  • Example: Pushing a player in anger.

2. Instrumental Aggression:

  • To hurt someone physically without intentionally.
  • Example: Accidentally hitting someone while playing football.

3. Assertive Behavior:

  • Defending yourself without breaking the rules.
  • Example: A player shouting loudly to encourage his team.


7. How can aggression be reduced?

Answer:

  • Providing positive feedback reduces aggression.
  • Removing cues that elicit aggression.
  • To allow the player to exercise self-control and imagination.
  • Using stress management techniques.
  • To emphasize on sportsmanship more than winning the game.
  • Penalizing overly aggressive players.
  • The coach himself must behave calmly.


8. What is the relationship between personality and motivation?

Answer:

  • Personality determines a person's thoughts, feelings, and behavior.
  • Motivation determines the direction and intensity of a person's action.
  • Introverts are driven by intrinsic motivation, while extroverts are driven by extrinsic motivation.


9. How can a person's personality be improved?

Answer:

  • Do self-reflection.
  • Develop positive thinking.
  • Maintain curiosity to learn new things.
  • Develop social and emotional skills.
  • Maintain self-discipline.


10. How does motivation affect sports performance?

Answer:

  • A motivated player works harder.
  • He is ready to face difficulties.
