Question – Describe the main branches of physical geography?

Answer -  

There are four main branches of physical geography    

• geomorphology

• Climatology

• Hydrology

• Soil Geography 

Question:  Geology is the genetic study of various types of structures found on the earth's surface such as continents, mountains, plateaus, plains, river valleys etc.

Answer -  

• Climatology: In this, the climate and its constituent elements are studied systematically. Rainfall, temperature, air pressure, wind, storm etc. are the main components of climate. 

• Hydrology: It studies the role of water in nature and human life through oceans, rivers, lakes, glaciers and water vapor. 

• Soil Geography: In this, the process of soil formation, its types and its distribution are studied. 

Question –  Describe the two main approaches of geography? 

Answer -  

There are two main approaches to geography    

1. Systematic Geography : 

• In systematic geography a specific geographical element is studied

• The sequential method presents an integrated view of an area 

• This method is based on political units. 

• This study presents findings and facts 

• In this study, different types and subtypes are determined based on a factor such as climate 

2. Regional Geography : 

• A region is studied as a unit with reference to all its geographical elements 

• The regional law presents a unique form 

• Presents the interrelationship between the environment of a region and humans 

• In this study, regions are demarcated, this is called regionalisation

Question –  Why should we study Geography subject?

• The study of 'Geography' is very important for us because

• The study of geography helps us to understand the diversity found in human societies. This strengthens the feeling of global peace and brotherhood.

• Geography gives it the ability to understand the diversities on the earth's surface and to find out the factors that produce these diversities.

Question –  Geography develops the skill of knowing the real earth and visual knowledge of various elements on the surface.

• The study of modern scientific techniques in geography such as Geographic Information System (GIS), Computer Cartography, Remote Sensing has provided the ability to acquire knowledge and skills and to contribute in national development.

Question –  On what basis can we say that geography is a scientific subject?

Answer -

1. Some questions involve identifying patterns in natural and cultural features found on the surface of the earth that answer the question "what? "

2. Where? There are some questions which are related to the distribution of physical and cultural elements on the earth. These are related to the question "where ".

3. Why? The third category of questions is related to the explanation or cause-effect relationship between the elements. Which answers  why . This is the third category of questions in geography. It gives it a scientific form.
